The Trade Pages is All About Showing That There's More Than One Path That Leads to a Career

Mission

At its most basic purpose, The Trade Pages was created to be a directory for trade programs and apprenticeships. But more than that, it is here to help you explore and discover your interests, skills, and ultimately, a new career. The Trade Pages is a comprehensive guide that will introduce you to trade programs, the jobs that those programs lead to, and the concrete steps to take that will lead to employment. We are starting with trade and apprenticeship programs in Hawaiʻi but hope to expand to all 50 states.

Who We Serve

There are countless websites out there that are geared towards choosing the perfect university or picking the right college major. But what about finding the perfect trade program?

The Trade Pages is a great resource if YOU:

  • Are interested in a career change
  • Are currently in high school and wish all of your classes were electives like auto body or cooking
  • Are an academically motivated high school student but you are curious about learning about other options after graduation
  • Need to develop hard skills to more easily find employment
  • Are unemployed and want to find a direct path towards a career

About Me and Why I Created The Trade Pages

I’m Kanani Gabriel and I was born and raised in Hawaiʻi. I now live in Taiwan but hope to return home to Hawaiʻi one day. In the meantime, Taiwan is about as close to Hawaiʻi as I can get without being there with its similar climate, food, and most importantly, its close proximity to the mountains and the ocean at all times. I enjoy paddling with my dragon boat team, practicing doing handstands, and consuming all media related to the TV show Survivor.

I created The Trade Pages as a resource to find out about educational and career paths that don’t stem from attending a traditional 4-year college or university. I was curious about the options and realized two surprising things:

  1. There was very little information about university alternatives (and what I found looked like it was last updated in the early 2000s).
  2. Articles that suggested trade schools as a post-high school option heavily implied they were for non-academically driven students with low GPAs.

I decided to create The Trade Pages to show what your other options are besides going to university. Both options are great, but you can find WAY more information online about college programs that you can about trade programs. I want to help bridge that gap. I hope The Trade Pages can provide information on trade schools and apprenticeship programs to help guide you in choosing the path you take.
